 Mentoring Interactive Modular Education

Our M.I.M.E. (Mentoring Interactive Modular Education) method of instruction was developed by VLC staff to facilitate the distance education experience. It provides students with instructor mentoring, interaction with both instructors and fellow students, and modular presentation of information online to ensure lessons are studied in the most efficient order. There are six professional medical transcriptionists on staff to instruct the three medical transcription courses, which are geared toward three different career goals.

Depending upon course choice, successful completion qualifies students to work at home or at healthcare facilities, as medical transcriptionists, or in medical billing or medical coding departments. All courses offer a Certificate of Completion after students have successfully written a final exam. The VLC is a member of the American Association for Medical Transcription (AAMT), and all of these courses follow the Association's model curriculum.
 

VLC students get the advantage of having access to an extensive database dedicated to at-home employment.

Most courses are taught using the Mentoring Interactive Modular Education (M.I.M.E.) method of instruction. M.I.M.E. has been used successfully for home training for the past seven years. The availability of instructors, interactive chat rooms, and modular delivery of information makes online learning as easy as possible.
